My First Surf-Sunset Photo Op w/Dann Petty (I'm scared of the ocean)
|
Dann pinged me at work at around 5:30pm while the sun was still up and asked if I'd be interested in a test photo op at the beach after work... I grabbed my camera. "Lets make this happen."
We drove 30 minutes north to Encinitas, CA. This beach was gorgeous; I had never been here before.
I've never actually done a photo op at the beach or in low light (or ever really).. so I took this opportunity to give my Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 lens the opportunity to prove it's worth.
The sun slowly started to set at around 6:00pm so it gave me a chance to play with a range of different lighting. I didn't take my camera too far out into the ocean, but I managed to get some decent shots of Dann on the sand (not in the water since this lens only zooms in 55mm.)
We shot videos and photos from 6:00pm-7:00pm. It turned out to be one hour of dramatic sunlight and equally attractive skies. And though my jeans were wet, cold and sandy- I deem this trip worth it.
Hope you enjy this set!
(P.S. Humans and the ocean-- don't get me started. They do not belong... there is way too much creepy shit in the ocean *goose bumps as I'm typing this*)

Nice shots, #9 has great depth, focus, and light reflections. You picked a nice evening to shoot, we rarely get skies that dramatic in Encinitas! Too bad there wasn't any surf, that would have completed the scene.
