Which camera should I buy?
|
I’m looking forward to buy my first DSLR camera. Still is not sure if I’m going to have the money, but I really want one. I’m still trying to decide which one. I’m really not good with technical details so I was hoping that Kontain users that have somewhat experience in the field can help me to decide or recommend me what should I buy.
My two choices right now are the Nikon D60 (10.2mp) and the Canon Rebel Xsi (12.2mp). Those two are the best I have found for my budget. The Canon is a little more expensive but it seems to have more features. And the Nikon is still in the fight because it has been greatly recommended and for my short experience Nikon always deliver great color and image quality.
So, what you think it’s best for an absolute amateur like me? Maybe you think there’s a better choice instead these two?
Please, leave me a response; it’ll take you just a few seconds and I’ll appreciate it a lot :)
Thanks in advance!

Hi chivo, this is similar to the old mac vs PC debate! both are great cameras and you can't go wrong with either as they are both perfect for amateurs, but from my research I found that Nikon make better flash guns and Canon make better lenses...so personally I would choose Canon...good luck!

Hello dear, I can understand this situation. In fact I went through the same situation few months back while I wanted to buy my first one. After a lot of brainstorming, I went for Canon 450D, which is Indian version of Canon Rebel XSi. What I've seen in between that none of the users, either Nikon or Canon, never complained about their cameras or wished for other, vice versa. However it depends a lot on being familiar to one end. It's seen all the times that whichever one you buy, the next camera you buy is mostly from the same brand. That was quite interesting for me to know. These are few facts that will help you, I've got to know from close associates... who are professional photographers -
1. Canon always invents a feature in the camera, which follows later being used in Nikons.
2. Nikon, being followed more than Canon, has great range of accessories (including third parties)
3. They both are almost equally priced models to models as compared with features.
4. Somehow a highly professional glamor photographer friend told me that Nikon gives you grains when you are shooting and inspecting pictures at real detailed levels. As his pictures are used on the billboards all over. This made me buy Canon. However I don't seem to be fully agreeing to it.
5. I've never seen anyone who regretting that why they did not pick up the other brand!
6. Make sure if the lens+body deal is economical for you. For example I picked up Canon 450D + 18-200mm lense which got me almost 20% discount, if I would have bought both of them separate.
Please note that these are what I have discovered over few months. But call me freak, my next camera for sure is going to be Nikon, since I want to try best of both the worlds. :o) Hope these inputs do help you someway!
