Thanksgiving Dinner 2009
|
Thanksgiving Day, has been an annual tradition in the US since 1863 and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. Initially, this was historically a religious observation to give thanks to God, but is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. The First Thanksgiving was celebrated to give thanks to God for helping the pilgrims survive the brutal winter. The traditional Thanksgiving menu often features turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, gravy, biscuits and pumpkin pie.
We here at Fi take our holidays seriously. Especially, the ones that involve food as the main focus. So last week we closed shop a little early and prepared a giant Thanksgiving feast for the entire NY office. The festivities started off with a fun team building exercise where everyone broke up into 3 groups to see who could build the tallest, strongest tower using only plastic cups, pine cones, straws and tennis balls. The trick was that they were not able to use anything, (such as glue or tape) other than the given materials With some creative thinking Team # 1 were deemed victorious.
After the games and some final touches being made to the grand feast, everyone gathered around the main table and began to dig in to the 2 huge turkeys, ham, stuffing, rolls, potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, and much
more! After dinner everyone went on to make Indian hats, eat dessert, drink and play foosball. It was a wonderful afternoon and hopefully we can make this a yearly tradition here at Fi!
