Work in progress.. 'Invisible People' Photobook
|
Invisible People is my first photobook project i started working on about 9 months ago.
I moved over to Ireland from South Africa in March 2008 and got more time to travel and take my photography a bit more serious.
After i got a couple photos of a homeless guy in Galway (West Coast of Ireland), i realised how powerfull some of these were. So i spent every week going from Dublin to Galway trying to get more 'powerfull / full of emotion' type homeless photos.
After spending some time watching them / talking to them, i realised that people dont want to know they are there and they are basically 'Invisible People'.
I then thought it would be nice to get a little photobook up and sold to try and help the Homeless shelters. So the photos below are just a start to the photobook.
Comments welcome :-)

Hello there, welcome to kontain! I am so happy to see quality work posted on kontain! I must say these photos are very powerful. They have such an impact since they reflect painful truths. Were they staged? I bet not...
Anyway I hope you fiind kontain enjoyable and keep on posting your stuff!
Oh and best of luck on your initiative, its a nobel cause.

These are really great photos. You really managed to capture the details well and character of each person. I am from Dublin myself so I can reaate to seeing a lot of homeless people on the streets of Dublin and Galway.
Keep up the great Photo work. I recently got my hands on a similar lens to yours. Not sure I can capture as good yet :) but there are plenty of similar folks walking the streets of NYC!

Excellent zone mastery—the contrast on a lot of these is supberb! I really like the concept of selling the book to help out with the homeless. Best of luck with that!

Great imagery! My apologies for geeking out, but what equipment were you using here and what do you normally carry with you when you go out to shoot? I know that taking phenomenal pictures is way more than just the hardware, but what can I say, I'm a big nerd and knowing these things interests me :-).

Hey Don, great photos! The contrast and detail in these photos is amazing. I can't wait to see the rest of them as you continue your project. I hope you share them with the rest of the Kontain community as your project progresses.

Pretty interesting work. I'm also going to geek out here and ask what you're processing them with? Is it LR2?

Hey Foodstamp...good stuff...I used to hang out with the homeless in Galway a bit...is there a fella named Denny still knocking around? He was a character...he started shouting in protest during the President's opening of the shelter near the Eyre Square train station
