Roxton Garden Centre
|
Roxton Garden Centre is a rapidly expanding family business. It has witnessed many changes in the past four decades, not least the long awaited Great Barford bypass. The centre began as a nursery, built by John and Mavis Dakin in 1969. Trading began as a garden centre in 1990. The centre is now owned and run by Jeff Dakin and his wife Lorraine. In their retirement years John and Mavis have a supportive role and are often seen around the centre, still keen to help out when the need arises. The third generation of the family is involved to with the teenagers Madeleine and Mark working at weekends and school holidays.
The latest expansion to the business was the opening of 'Dakins' Restaurant in September 2006. From the outset and in line with the philosophy of the family, visitors to Dakins will enjoy high standards. In its first trading season it has become very popular. The warm, vibrant Mediterranean colours of the restaurant blend in seamlessly with the garden centre and overlook an attractive decked patio dining area, which, in turn is set amongst the flora of the heart of Roxton Garden Centre's outside display area.
