Our tomatoes have come through!
Here is an update of what’s happened since the last entry.
The tomatoes have come through; we’ve got 10 young plants with the 100’s & 1000’s
Not so good with the others, I reckon it’s because they were not kept at a constant temperature they were probably to cold at night. It can make a difference.
If you look at one of the pictures you will see what we call the ‘true leaf’ emerging from the centre of the 2 juvenile leaves. This leaf will be the first one that looks like a proper tomato leaf.
As the toms have not done to well I am trying some more with Suttons tomato growing kit, the kids will love this because you can watch the compost pellets grow in minutes when you add water
The lettuce in the grow bag have not done to well, there have been two died off but these can be replaced, the others are ok growing well.
I am trying some radish in a small trough, should be a bit of fun and easy to do. The trough was filled within about 3cm from the top and firmed down using a flat piece of wood or a brick, sprinkle the radish seed as evenly as you can and cover with about 1cm of compost, water gently but thoroughly and lets see what happens.
I am also putting courgette seed in pots to get them started, just fill pots with compost make a hole with your finger about 2cm deep and pop one seed in, in a few days time they should be up.
Water everything evenly and cover with some plastic or put in a propagator to keep the moisture in.
Oh yes and there is a picture of some strawberry plants I put in last week, you can see the first strawberries starting to develop, great isn’t it
